A
last second blocked field goal gives Oakland the win over Denver and knocks out
4 of the 6 remaining KOTH players! Congrats to Superfan Sue and Lisa Gutwein
who are the survivors. They have decided to split $3530 of the pot and play it
out for the remaining $100 to determine this year’s Queen of the Hill! This week
SS has NEN and LG has STL. Good luck ladies!
The
loser of the week pool is down to 30. Good luck!
Again
we lost only one in the Loser pool, and again, everyone survived in the KOTH.
Picks are up for week 12. Good Luck!
Only
1 person went out in the Loser pool last week. The KOTH remains at 6. Week 11
is now live and in color!. Go Eagles!!
Week
10 picks are up! Good luck!
Well
after a frustrating 3 days dealing with my ISP we are finally back up. Email and
web access is back to normal. If you didn’t get our email announcements
regarding the problem, then you aren’t on our email list. Let us know and we’ll
add you.
Week
9 took out a boatload (um, that’s a lot) of players. We are down to six in the
King of the Hill. The Loser of the Week is at 48. Good luck to those few
remaining!
Week
7 was a bloodbath! Nearly 2/3 of the pool went down in flames. Good luck to the
33 left! Week 8 picks are up as well as the Loser of the Week pool picks. We
ended up with a whopping 150 in the the loser pool! Good luck to all!
We
lost 9 more week 6, so we are at 93. The week 7 picks are up. Don’t forget to
get your loser of the week pool requests and fees in asap. You have one week to
sign up and get your week 8 picks in!
Week
4 had 27 out and week 5 had 11 more out, so we are at 102 going into week 6.
The picks are up and the Jets and Eagles have nearly 75% of the picks. Loser of
the Week invitation went out yesterday. If you didn’t get an invite let me know
so I can check my mailing list. We are starting week 8 (Oct 31st) so
sign up soon!
Picks are up for week
4. Next week, Jenny & I will both be out of town Friday and Saturday. I
will try to update the web from the road, but it is possible that it won't get
updated until sunday. If we can't get the web updated before gametime, we'll at
least send out an email with the total picks on each team. Also, many people
have asked, and yes, the Loser of the Week Pool is coming soon, probably week 7
or 8. We’ll send out a signup invitation in a week or so.
The
Falcons nearly took out about half the pool, but only 12 people went down in
week 3.
Week
3 is live. Good luck to everyone!

down in week 1! Congrats to the survivors!

Looks
like we will end up with 363 players. We found one more signup that did not get
their pick in in time, so they will get GBA in tonite’s game. So far we are
down 69 players and will lose either 6 or 7 more tonite.
9/11/2004
We
are posting the picks. We have 362 players this year, just a few players short
of where we were last year.
Last
year we had two extra weeks to recruit since we postponed the start until week
3 at the last minute due to Wubba’s husband’s aneurism, which occurred week 1
Friday. At this time on week 1 Saturday, the docs were only giving him a 50%
chance to make it. Now, one year later, I couldn’t be happier to report that
John has made pretty much a complete recovery!
This
week’s picks have over 220 picks on 2 teams, with 21 other teams getting the
other 140 picks. There are several games where people picked both sides, so for
at least a few of you, this is goodbye. ;)
The
picksheet is under the current week koth picks link above. Good luck!
1:30pm
Here’s
the current situation. With the NFL moving a game to 1pm today, it has put a
big squeeze on us to get this all organized prior to gametime. We have 7 people
who have picked TEN, but we are still going thru the email and getting the
sheet ready to post to the web. If any more picks come in timestamped after
1pm, they will not be able to choose the Saturday game. We will post the full
picklist later today or Sunday morning. Looks like we will have between 358 and
362 players. There are a few people who were submitted by others as wanting to
play, but who we did not get picks from. We’re in the process of contacting the
people who submitted them to see if they turned in pix to them, don’t want in,
or want in but will miss week 1 and get GBA as the default..

Rules to Remember:
*
Each week you pick one NFL team to win.
*
All picks must be in by 5pm Eastern on Fridays. If you miss the deadline, you
automatically get the Monday Night visitor. During the playoffs, if you miss
the deadline, you get the team that is the underdog by the most points in
Friday’s USA Today. In case of a tie, we use the game with the latest start
time.
*
Thursday games are not eligible for picking.
*
To remain alive you must pick a winning team (ties are NOT a win).
*
Submit picks to Wubba
& Zathras.
History of
the KOTH
The King of the Hill pool was
started in 1998, with a mere 20 players. Four years later, we had 10 times that
many participating! In 1999 we had a lot of folks out early, who needed another
fix. So we launched a “Loser of the Week” pool in week 5- basically another
King of the Hill pool- same rules but with one twist: pick a LOSING
team! A win or tie and you are out. Missed picks get the Monday nite HOME team.
Every year since, around week
5-8, we have fired up the Loser Pool. It’s not a requirement to be eliminated
from the KOTH (or even to have played) to get into the Loser Pool.
